• Working with children is challenging

Although working in a childcare career can be exciting and creative, it can also be challenging. You’ll need to be able to stay calm and patient with both children and parents alike, no matter the situation. If you get a buzz from problem-solving and overcoming challenges, you’ll thrive in a childcare career. Different children display different behaviour patterns, such as ADHD, which you'll need to be able to understand and support. You could move into specialist areas or even work towards running your own business.

Let’s face it, working with kids – particularly younger ones – gives you the opportunity to let your inner child run free (to an extent!). Whether you’re playing make-believe games, showing off your artistic skills or running a sports day, your work will never be boring.
