Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 5 – SEN Support)
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour

We are seeking a caring and patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with special educational needs. The child has some verbal language but often repeats words and can find communication challenging. He is working below age-related expectations academically and benefits from structured support throughout the school day.

The pupil enjoys accessing the sensory room and takes regular breaks to help regulate his emotions and maintain focus. He tends to play alongside peers rather than engaging in shared play and may experience periods of dysregulation or meltdowns, requiring calm, consistent support and time to settle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs
• Support communication and encourage development of language skills
• Assist with emotional regulation and de-escalation during challenging moments
• Facilitate access to sensory activities and planned breaks
• Support learning activities in line with the classroom plan
• Encourage positive social interaction with peers

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with SEN preferred
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Ability to build trust and consistency with a vulnerable learner
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
