1:1 Teaching Assistant – Reception 

Location: L19 
Hours: 8.30am–3.30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Until the end of the summer term

We are seeking a warm, energetic Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a little boy in Reception with emotional needs linked to attachment and trauma. The school is looking for someone playful, consistent and able to build a trusting relationship through positive interaction.

The successful candidate will help him recognise and manage his emotions, spot early triggers, and maintain a calm, safe environment during learning and play. At times he may struggle with behaviour and become dysregulated, so a patient, nurturing approach is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Build a positive, playful relationship to support engagement
  • Help him regulate emotions and develop coping strategies
  • Identify triggers and intervene early to prevent escalation
  • Support safe interactions with peers and maintain a calm environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO

About You

  • Fun, outgoing and confident with young children
  • Calm under pressure and able to model emotional regulation
  • Observant, proactive and nurturing
  • Experience with attachment, trauma or emotional/behavioural needs is desirable
