1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 5
Location: L25
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm
Start: ASAP
Hourly rate: £13.80-£15 per hour + holiday pay (dependant on experience)
We are seeking a patient, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide full‑time 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with an EHCP. The pupil has a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD and requires consistent academic and emotional support to help him stay focused, regulated, and engaged in learning. He also shows signs of trauma and finds peer relationships challenging, so a nurturing, trauma‑informed approach is essential.
About the Role
- 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Promote the pupil’s interests such as football, boxing, and martial arts, to motivate and engage him.
- Help with focus, regulation and behaviour
- Support social skills and peer interactions
- Use trauma‑informed strategies
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
What We’re Looking For
- Strong emotional resilience and a calm, consistent approach
- Confidence using de‑escalation strategies
- Ability to build a positive, trusting relationship
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
All applicants must hold an enhanced DBS certificate (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered on the DBS update service. Candidates will be asked to provide a minimum of five years references and successfully pass all safeguarding checks
