11 Nov 2011. The work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith has said he wants child care costs to be reviewed, to bring costs down to low income families. From 2013, parents who work less than 16 hours a week will be eligible for childcare support

The Home Secretary, Theresa May, has today (15th June 2010) issued a statement to the House of Commons which confirms the stated intention of the coalition Government to review the Vetting & Barring and criminal records regimes to ensure that they are scaled back to common sense levels.

Ofsted’s published data on childcare inspection outcomes, for the period from end of September to end of December 2009 show an improvement in results, particularly for child carers on domestic premises.
